Terms & Conditions

These terms apply to every order placed on tintavell.com. Please read them before you order. If anything is unclear, email support@tintavell.com.

1. Who we are

tintavell.com is run by Light In The Box Limited, a private company limited by shares incorporated in Hong Kong (company number 1141168), registered office 5/F, Tack Building, 50 Gilman Street, Central, Hong Kong. TINTAVELL is our trading name. Contact: support@tintavell.com, +852 59074326. More in Legal Information.

2. Who can order

Our shop is for consumers aged 18 or over, buying for personal use, with a delivery address in one of the countries listed on our Delivery page. We do not sell for resale.

3. Products and pictures

Each product page lists what is in the set, the number of pieces, sizes and materials. Photos show the sets styled at parties; other items in a photo (furniture, food, flowers, items from other sets) are not included unless the product page lists them. Printed colours can look slightly different on different screens. Line drawings show the layout of the pieces and are not to scale.

Some products need simple assembly, and some need things that are not included, such as a curtain rod for a backdrop or a pump for balloons. The product page says so before you buy.

4. Prices and currency

Prices are shown in the currency of the country you ship to, with its ISO code (for example $34 USD, 34 € EUR, 239 kr DKK). You pay in that currency. If your card is in another currency, your bank may add a conversion fee.

The price shown is the final price of the item and includes all taxes we are required to charge. Hong Kong does not charge a sales tax. Delivery is added at checkout and shown before you pay. Import duties, taxes or handling fees charged by your country on arrival are not included and are paid by the recipient.

We do not run promotions or discount codes at the moment. If we ever do, the conditions will be shown next to the offer.

If a price on the site is clearly wrong because of an error, we will tell you before we accept your order and you can choose to go ahead at the correct price or cancel.

5. How a contract is made

  1. You add products to your cart, enter your details and choose a payment method.
  2. Before you pay you can check and correct everything on the checkout page.
  3. When you press Place order and pay, you make a binding offer to buy.
  4. We send an email confirming that we received your order. The contract is made when we send that confirmation. If we cannot accept an order (for example because a product is no longer available), we tell you and refund any payment straight away.

The contract is made in the language you ordered in (English, German, Danish, French or Swedish). We store your order details; you receive them by email and can see them in your account if you created one.

6. Payment

Card payments are processed by our payment provider over an encrypted connection. Card details are entered on the provider’s secure form and are never stored on our servers. Payment is taken when you place your order. The charge appears on your statement as TINTAVELL.

7. Delivery and risk

We deliver to the address you give us, in the time and at the cost shown on our Delivery page. Delivery times are estimates. The goods are your responsibility from the moment they are delivered to you or to someone you named.

8. Returns, withdrawal and cancellation

Every customer has our 30-day returns promise. Customers in the EU, the UK, Norway and the EEA also have a statutory 14-day right of withdrawal, which applies in addition to our promise. Orders can be cancelled free of charge until they are dispatched. Full details, the model withdrawal form and the online withdrawal function are on our Returns promise page.

9. Your rights under Hong Kong law

Under the Sale of Goods Ordinance (Cap. 26), goods we sell must:

  • match the description we gave them;
  • be of merchantable quality; and
  • be fit for any particular purpose you made known to us before buying.

If they are not, you may reject them and claim a refund, or claim damages. Under the Control of Exemption Clauses Ordinance (Cap. 71), we cannot exclude or limit these obligations when selling to a consumer, and nothing on this site attempts to. If you live outside Hong Kong, the mandatory consumer-protection rules of your country of residence also apply to you.

10. Using the products safely

Our products are decorations for adults to set up. Paper and fabric burn: keep them away from candles, open flames, heaters and hot lamps. Latex balloons carry this warning: Children under 8 years can choke or suffocate on uninflated or broken balloons. Adult supervision required. Keep uninflated balloons from children. Discard broken balloons at once. Balloons are made of natural rubber latex, which can cause allergies. Remove cake toppers and picks before cutting and serving.

11. Our responsibility

We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or of our negligence. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law, and nothing limits your statutory rights.

We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control; if that happens we will tell you and you may cancel and get a full refund for anything not yet delivered.

12. Your account and your data

You can order as a guest or create an account. Keep your password private. How we use your personal data is explained in our Privacy Policy and Personal Information Collection Statement.

13. If something goes wrong

Contact us first at support@tintavell.com. Most problems are solved quickly by email.

If we cannot resolve it and you are in Hong Kong, the Consumer Council offers a free complaint and conciliation service. The Consumer Council is not a regulator and cannot make binding decisions. For claims up to HK$75,000 you may also use the Small Claims Tribunal, which is designed to be used without a lawyer.

If you live outside Hong Kong, you can contact the consumer advice body in your own country (in the EU, for example, the European Consumer Centre in your country), and the mandatory consumer-protection rules of your country of residence continue to apply to you. We do not currently take part in proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.

14. Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them (including non-contractual disputes or claims) are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

The Hong Kong courts have non-exclusive jurisdiction. Nothing in this clause affects your right, as a consumer, to bring proceedings in the courts of the country where you are resident, or to rely on the mandatory consumer-protection rules of that country.

15. Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. The version that applies to your order is the one shown on the site when you placed it.
